Stasis, in behavioral terms, is the animal’s ability to remain stable and confident even though external factors might be present. This is a very important issue because there are just some animals and people who, when flustered or roused, might tend to become even more erratic or unpredictable.
Others, such as professionally trained service dogs, can literally have the world explode around them and yet remain completely unflappable and predictable. As you can see, if a dog is reactive, and takes a very long time to calm down, the potential for disaster is not only probable but very likely.
