Ingredient sources

Sometimes you may buy the same food for years, and then suddenly your dog begins exhibiting strange behavior or has digestive issues. Some mid to lower end dog foods are often outsourced; a farmer might be providing the meat for a particular dog food one week and then a different farmer (source) may provide it the next month.  Dog food manufacturers are always aware of cost and profit margins, and always assume you get what you pay for.

Some dog foods costs $2 or $3 dollars a pound and are not any better than the lowest quality food, because instead of investing in high quality ingredients the companies are spending millions of dollars on marketing costs.

Look at the ingredient panel and buy the best your can afford.

Also, read the labels and see which countries are providing the ingredients. Learn where your dog food contents come from.  Be careful to avoid products that will hard for your dog to digest, and always use caution when purchasing products made in, or sourced from, places like China.
