- Most dogs have minor behavioral issues that either go unaddressed or unnoticed by owners who mean well. If you know someone who has a dog and needs to find it a new home, please reach out to the local rescues in your area and to family and friends who may know the dog and have a bond with her. If all else fails, email us at ________@____.com and ask to be posted on our website.
- Help your friends who have dogs with behavioral issues by having them read the information on our website and offer them creative ways to perhaps keep their dog, particularly if the dog is older or special needs.
- Foster a dog for your local rescue or shelter.
- Volunteer at your local shelter or rescue group. Simply walking the dogs properly and spending time with them, can be enough to build up their confidence and manners and make them infinitely more adoptable. Everyone loves a well-behaved pet.
- Spay and neuter your pets to prevent unwanted litters.
- Donate food, crates, leashes and collars to your local shelter or rescue group. Ask what other items they need.
- Hold a fundraiser with your local school or club and donate the money to the local animal shelter.
- Educate friends and neighbors about spay/neuter.
- Offer your assistance if it seems they are having a difficult time with their pet. Sometimes a friendly word and helpful smile can allay a difficult moment with their pet.
- People often give up because they are frustrated or embarrassed so don’t judge, help. Rather, compliment them on something positive such as “What a beautiful dog!”, ask them a question such as, “What do you enjoy most about your dog?”, or other things that can distract them from their frustration over the dog’s behavior. A kind word at the proper time can save a life.
